Along this line, more investigations were conducted in the English language, literature, science, math and even in Filipino to carry out a more encompassing relevant mechanism for improving the quality of education. In keeping with the continuing program on educational research, more attempts have been done to continually gather, analyze, interpret and disseminate related information in a research culture that cuts across boundaries of knowledge societies. The study pointed to the embedding mechanisms social capital as determinants of research culture which in turn impacts the functionality of research in terms of capability, productivity, dissemination and utilization. To this effect a dissertation, explored as part of the outcome assessment the research culture and functionality in teacher education of some nine (9) Teacher Education Institutions (TEI’s). One of the hallmarks of a credible research is its functionality, the degree to which the research output is disseminated and utilized in the light of its practical implications. Reactions, knowledge and skill changes, and aspirations were significantly different when grouped according to ages, civil status and length of stay in the barangay implied that the college need to modify and apply a little classification in when orienting and implementing the program, however, in terms of attitude change it is not significant in age, sex and civil status implied that the values that the program wanted to give really reached them somehow significant in the length of stay since one factor is that the more lengthy they stayed in the place the more compassion and concern they established the values they had to their barangay. It was found out that the community is very much positive in receiving this kind of extension project of the college it was reflected in the perceived changes and gave them great aspirations. Inferential analyses of correlation and t-test for independent sample and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to determine if significant correlation and difference exist in the defined variables under consideration. Descriptive analyses where used like percentage and weighted mean with 4-point likert scale. Data gathering was made possible to 87 locals by quota-convenience nonrandom sampling through a survey questionnaire where the profile and information of the respondents were identified likewise their reactions pertaining to the program and the perceived changes on their knowledge and opinion, skills and values as well as their aspirations were taken into considerations. Descriptive research design was applied on the study. It is observed that this barangay has been affected by typhoon and heavy rainfall so City College of Calamba deemed it necessary to sponsor their first extension program somehow this will help the respondents prevent flood in their place. The study ends with a proposed sustainability program for the benefit of the residents of Barangay Lingga, Calamba City where the program was implemented and monitored for a year. The study dealt with Sagip-Lawa, Iwas-Baha, a CCC’s Adopt-a-Barangay Extension Program and its impact to their respondents with reference to their general reaction, impact changes and aspirations. 4th International Congress on Action Research, Action Learning. Problem-Based Learning Module in the Conservation of Ecosystem. A proposed problem-based learning module was developed to strengthen the performance of the learners. This showed that PBL is an effective teaching and learning approach, particularly when it is evaluated for situational environmental issues. The results of the post-test scores were significantly higher than the pretest scores of the students with t-value of -29.04 and df of 160. This agrees with the previous indication that the students did better in their post-test than in pretest. The study revealed that students’ engagement with the problem-based learning module enhances students’ learning based on pretest mean score of 5.78 to posttest mean score of 7.09 with the p-value of < 0.001 means that there is a significant difference between the pretest and post-test performance of the students. One sample quasi-experimental design was used among one hundred sixty-one (161) student participants from the Division of City Schools of Manila. As such, an action research about problem-based learning module in the conservation of ecosystem was used to assess the ability of the learners to analyze and solve the environmental issues and concerns of ecosystem. Effective teaching method has been an increasing concern to improve the performance of the learners.
